Dear Members

As of March 28th 2006 all IBF clubs that teach young people less than 16 years of age will have to nominate a Child Protection Officer and have a Child Protection Policy (examples are on www.youngjudoclub.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk or www.ibf-uk.co.uk) For those who do not want attend the course you can contact your local authority for more information.

Child Protection Training

This is an introductory workshop designed for people working directly with children, managers and supervisors.  The workshop uses a mixture of information giving, question and answer sessions and group discussions designed to familiarise participants with the nature and extent of child abuse and to explore appropriate organizational and individual responses to risks facing children.  The workshop is also very useful as a refresher for people who have some child protection knowledge but wish to update their knowledge of recent changes in procedures and the law.

The workshop covers child protection policy and procedures, the law, Internet safety, the role and function of the Kent Child Protection Committee and how agencies can work together to safeguard children.

Participants receive a certificate of attendance at the workshop issues by the Kent Child Protection Committee.

Participants working on NVQ 3 in Child Care can use attendance at the workshop as evidence for their portfolios.

Robin Young
